Dear SCCJEU Members:
The SCCJEU Board of Directors is pleased to announce the 2026 Mary Zenor Scholarship Awards (MZS). The MZS committee will be accepting applications for two sets of scholarships: one set for SCCJEU members college level children, dependents, or grandchildren and another for graduating high school level children, dependents, or grandchildren.
The scholarships are in honor of Mary Zenor, a DA's Office Criminal Investigator, who passed away after battling cancer. Mary participated in the first bargaining team when the Association was formed, and she never lost sight of the need to ensure that all members of the Association were represented.
Mary was very proud of the fact that, while working, she was able to obtain a college degree and subsequently a master's degree. This pride was only topped by her sense of fulfillment that her two sons were each able to go away to college and obtain degrees as well.
This year there will be three scholarships awarded to each of the two groups. If you have a child, dependent, or grandchild who will be a graduating senior in high school attending college in fall 2026 or a continuing college student enrolling for fall 2026, we urge you to fill out the scholarship entry form. You can inquire about the scholarship with your board representative, by downloading the application and instructions on SCCJEU’s website (www.SCCJEU.us), or by calling the SCCJEU office at (916) 858-2689.
Please note that entry forms for the child, dependent or grandchild of a member in good standing will only be accepted for those individuals seeking an undergraduate degree from an accredited college, university, or vocational/trade school or that are still currently enrolled in high school.
Recipients of awards will need to provide proof of registration for courses at a college/university or a certification course.

Entry forms must be received by the SCCJEU office no later than 5:00 p.m. on April 30th, 2026. Each entry will be evaluated, and the winners will be notified by June 1, 2026.
